Sub-Theme Keynote Speaker: Human-AI Collaboration in Publishing, Creative, and Cultural Industries
John Mwazemba will explore how AI enhances creativity in media, publishing, and cultural heritage preservation, fostering innovative storytelling and expanding access to cultural knowledge.
Currently the Regional Director for East Africa at Oxford University Press and former CEO of Phoenix Publishers Ltd., John is an experienced editor, writer, and publisher with extensive expertise. He has undertaken editorial assignments for organizations such as the World Bank and the United Nations, including work with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa in Ethiopia and the United Nations Development Programme in Afghanistan, as well as various government and non-governmental organizations in Kenya.
With a strong background in managing major publishing projects, John spent seven years at Macmillan Kenya Publishers, serving first as an editor and then as Publishing Manager. He has also worked with an International Non-Governmental Organization (INGO), further broadening his experience in the publishing industry.
